Owner & Simplicity Curator
The Pura Vida Home is the long overdue passion project of owner and founder Aleah Wilson. This store has come to life after years of creating and sourcing simple, non-toxic health and home products for her young family.
In 2017, while pregnant, she was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune condition which left her temporarily paralyzed and in the hospital for weeks. Following the experience and birth of her healthy second baby, she vowed to put her health and family’s well-being at the forefront of her life.
Her dedication to a simple, non-toxic life was solidified soon after the experience, with the purchase of a 75 acre farm in the rural Clarington region. Homesteading has now become a way of life and each year that the farm grows, it serves as a budding and rewarding endeavor for the entire family.
Surrounding herself with friend and co-founder Jessica, Aleah has been able to cultivate her love for sustainability, wellness and plants to create The Pura Vida Home. The aspirations of this store extend far beyond the shelf space that homes a variety of natural, non-toxic, sustainable health and home products. The Pura Vida Home is a gathering space for like minded individuals who are seeking a sense of community and simplicity in their lives.
Co-founder & Wellness Warrior
Jes is a long time advocate of health and wellness and is incredibly excited to be the co-founder of this important and equally exciting movement in the small town of Bowmanville.
Her interest in the area of nutrition and sports medicine started organically as it pertained to her performance within sport, eventually leading her down an interesting road of educational pursuits. She is a full-time physiotherapist and also a Nutritional Therapist, recently founding her side project ‘The Wellness Element’.
Similar to Aleah, Jes became an advocate for non-toxic living after experiencing a number of health issues, bordering on autoimmunity and chronic disease. Determined to address the root cause for her illness, rather than treating the symptoms, she began to soak up all of the knowledge she could, investing heavily into the areas of functional nutrition and integrative medicine.
Now she helps others improve their mind, body and lifestyle through her culmination of knowledge within physiotherapy, strength training, nutritional therapy and awareness of living a low toxicity lifestyle.
Her aim is to provide valuable information you can easily put into practice to improve your health and achieve wellness! Stay tuned for one of Jes’s upcoming in-store workshops.
